Meet Kate, Your Maternity Portrait Photographer

Hi, I’m Kate, the founder and photographer behind Pacifica Studio in Santa Clara. I guide each maternity session from the first stance to the final frame, so you never have to arrive knowing how to pose.

A strong maternity portrait rarely depends on an elaborate pose. Small adjustments to posture, hand placement, chin angle, and the distance between two people make the shape of the portrait feel intentional while keeping the expression natural.

Clients often describe the studio experience as comfortable, patient, and well guided. That is the standard I bring to maternity portraits, whether we work under controlled studio light or use the movement and setting of an outdoor location.

A guided maternity portrait experience

Maternity portraits that feel like you, not a pose checklist

Kate’s three-part direction: settle, shape, connect

You do not need to memorize poses or practice expressions. The session builds from three repeatable steps that make direction easy to follow and create useful variety without turning the hour into a long shot list.
  • Settle:
Start with a balanced stance, relaxed breathing, and an outfit adjustment so nothing distracts from your face or silhouette.
  • Shape:
Refine posture, hand placement, and camera angle to define the bump naturally instead of forcing an exaggerated pose.
  • Connect:
Add eye contact, a close embrace, or a small movement so solo and couple portraits feel specific to you.

Choose the studio when control matters most

The Santa Clara studio keeps light, background, and camera position consistent. It suits clean portraits where hands, expression, and silhouette carry the image. The studio photographs on this page show white backdrops, focused spotlights, seated poses, reflections, and close details, all created without depending on weather.

Choose outdoors when place and movement matter

An outdoor session gives the portrait more environmental context and room for walking, fabric movement, and wider couple frames. The coastal photographs on this page were made around Pacifica beaches, bluffs, and cypress paths. Outdoor sessions allow up to 90 minutes, with wardrobe changes when time and location permit.

What a local guided session adds

An inspiration gallery can show attractive maternity poses, but it cannot adjust the pose to your balance, outfit, partner, or comfort in real time. At Pacifica Studio, you work directly with Kate at a real Santa Clara studio or a planned Bay Area location, with package scope and pricing visible before you inquire.

Choose the setting that matches your priorities, or request a custom quote when your people, wardrobe, location, or deadline needs a different plan.
